The Silent Wild
LILIANNE IVINS
Lilianne is an artist from the Blue Mountains, inspired by remote wilderness explorations. Her work often relates to extreme experiences within the landscape, such as abseiling, rock climbing, and long distance trekking. Subtle in tone and colour, she seeks to express a sense of spirituality and transcendence, the duality of fear and beauty, and the intimacy of complete immersion.
Although most of her larger paintings are studio based, she gathers all reference material such as small paintings, studies, sketches and photographs within the landscape. This is part of her process and forms part of the work as a whole.
Lilianne graduated from the National Art School in 2016, but didn’t immediately pursue her art career. Rather, Lilianne spent the next 3 years on her own, travelling across Canada, Iceland, and Scotland, slowly cultivating an inner landscape, inspired by her travels.
The Silent Wild, is Lilianne's first solo show, a culmination of her many experiences as a young woman alone in vast, beautiful frightening places.
