About Samuel Brett
Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1995, Samuel Brett is a contemporary Australian artist specialising in large-scale oil paintings that explore light, colour and atmosphere.
Samuel’s passion for art began in early childhood, leading him to undertake formal training at the Peninsula Art Society from the age of ten. He later completed a Diploma in Visual Arts, further developing his artistic skills and understanding of painting.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Diego Velázquez, Rembrandt, Edward Hopper and Caspar David Friedrich, Samuel has developed a distinctive approach to painting that combines artistic expression with a contemporary aesthetic.
Working primarily in oils, Samuel creates large-scale, atmospheric paintings characterised by simplicity, soft transitions of colour and a strong sense of light and space. Inspired by the natural world, particularly the changing skies and coastal environments of Australia, his work explores the relationship between colour, mood and atmosphere.
Through expressive brushwork, subtle tonal variations and carefully considered compositions, Samuel creates paintings that evoke a sense of depth, movement and emotion. His work balances modern simplicity with atmospheric qualities, producing visually striking pieces that invite viewers to experience the beauty and character of the natural world.
