Melbourne-based artist Donina Asera creates vibrant mythological narratives centred on myths and storytelling. As a first-generation Australian with Dutch and Samoan parents, she incorporates elements from her diverse cultural background into distinctive patterns forming the foundation of her visual language. Her artistic journey began at an early age watching her grandfather paint in his studio. Though she's always drawn, Donina began painting around 10 years ago, over time developing her signature style of flat, abstracted landscapes populated by god-like figures and creatures. Donina has gained recognition as a finalist in the prestigious Sir John Sulman Prize and several competitions including Artlovers Australia Art Prize, Art to Art Unearthed Art Prize, and juried Art2Life International Art Exhibition. She has presented work in a solo exhibition and participated in art fairs throughout Australia. Her work appears in private collections throughout Australia, Europe, UK and US.
