About Nic Watts
Nic has worked as a digital designer, artist and user experience designer, primarily working in the video games industry for over 25 years. During the Covid Pandemic of 2019 and his diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Nic decided to turn his focus to becoming a working artist. His first series, Roads to Nowhere, focused on highlighting the juxtaposition between man made paths and the natural beauty of the Cradle Mountain Overland Track. Using bold colours and stark imagery his goal was to draw the user into examining and seeing more of the natural beauty we often ignore when we focus on the roads in front of us. He has since expanded the Roads to Nowhere series to cover 3 “volumes”. Volume 1 is of the aforementioned Overland Track in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania; Volume 2 is of the Larapinta Trail in Central Australia; and he is currently at work on Volume 3 based on the Kumanokodo and Nakasendo Trails in Japan.
