Studio Gallery is proud to present Then, Now, Next?, a major solo exhibition by acclaimed Australian artist Gabrielle Jones. Following its debut at the University of Southern Queensland, this exhibition marks a significant evolution in Jones’ practice, introducing her first paper sculptures alongside her signature paintings.
Jones’ work is renowned for its tactile surfaces, layered compositions, and the dynamic interplay between abstraction and figuration. In Then, Now, Next?, she draws on Baroque-inspired storytelling while reimagining materials to create works that are simultaneously dramatic, ephemeral, and memorable. Through expressive forms, intricate mark-making, and vibrant colour, Jones explores themes of time, memory, and human experience, the dialogue between the past, present, and what lies ahead.
Highlights of the exhibition include Love Language and Time Lapse, each reflecting Jones’ investigation of movement, emotion, and history.
With over 25 years of exhibitions across Australia, Gabrielle Jones continues to expand the boundaries of contemporary abstraction, inviting viewers to engage physically, emotionally, and intellectually with her work. Then, Now, Next? is a rare opportunity to experience the evolution of a leading voice in Australian contemporary art.
