My practise revolves around the result of engaging with my senses, emotions and creative reflexes. I am wanting to portray a feeling or experience that can’t be articulated with words, sublimating sensation into colour and light.
The resulting paintings are improvised images where my submission to the making process is intertwined with the involuntary and subtle arrival of thoughts and sensations. Autonomous forms generated by water are the skeleton for an illusory space that I instinctively reinforce with intricate brushstrokes and organic lines. While I don’t explicitly embed meaning into my work, I am focused on establishing balance and beauty within it, developing a visual representation of cognition and perception grounded in pleasure and aesthetics.
Serving as a tool to understand the often-overlooked nature of consciousness, my work invites the viewer to move into a space of speculation. I join and converse with the viewer’s desire for beauty, mystery and seduction.
