In Light

Jacob Spoke Artist's Statement

Jacob's practice is a process-driven exploration of the relationship

between built and organic spaces, representing landscapes

that are realised through a conversation between form and colour.

‘In Light’ is a body of work that was made during lockdown

and serves as a longing for Spokes.

These works were inspired by images and drawings

taken from Tasmania all the way up to the mid north coast of Australia.

Preferring to stay true to the organic process over outcome,

Spokes creates conceptual compositions

by the constant layering of paint and dialogue

created with the works during this time.

Spokes presents his abstracted  memories

creating a ‘feeling’ of place and landscape.
