George Raftopoulos

George is a very well know award winning Australian born artist with Greek heritage. He is quite the 'bad boy' of the art world by his own delightful, mischievous admission. He has worked with some of Australia's top level galleries including being represented by Anna Pappas, he has just finished a very successful fair in Miami as well. He paints his version of the irony and complexity of culture, drawing on his Greek heritage and Greek mythology for his icons and paradigms. He was a misfit as a teen, feeling very much between the Aussie redneck attitudes towards his Greek culture and found it difficult to find a way to integrate into his birth country of Australia. As a consequence of this difficulty integrating into Australian culture he has manifested an incredible body of other worldly, amazing paintings.
