A Moment in Time, entrusting the ballet of emotion, colour, light and shadow to the permanent image. Shaw captures moments in time, pin points of light and reflection, circles of emotion enhanced with organic precision. She sees the world with the eyes of a master craftsperson. Nothing is out of place and every colour selection compliments the next. Painstaking in her creative process she is tireless in her journey to find the perfect composition. Elsbeth chooses fashion as her primary foundation. She sees fashion as more than clothing, more than status but rather as an intricate part of our social armour, our self esteem and our very nature. For this reason she seeks to translate the rarified, exotic and arcane world of fashion into visceral visual moments in time, accessible to everyone’s eye. Also working with nature, architecture and abstract Elsbeth strives to simplify, examine and report the beauty that she sees all around her. Her art practice is growing and evolving. She works daily developing new directions and insisting on the best methods of production. Now in collections around the world her aesthetic and personal vision are capturing this moment in time. Her tenacity, complex simplicity and bravery with her compositions reflect and give meaning to our moment in time. Like visionary artists before her it is evident that her visual message will be for all time.
Elsbeth paints draws and creates using hundreds, often thousands of circles full of colour. Symmetry and Style. History and Context. A continuous body of work, a ‘Runway Show’. Her voracious love of Art History draws upon the genres of OpArt, PopArt, Architecture and Fashion as she creates something new and all her own. With perfect colour sensibility and a unique style aesthetic she symmetrically, architecturally and symbolically builds a beautiful pattern genre utilising both the most serene and subtle tones - to the brightest most powerful shades. Inspired by Artisits Bridget Riley, Victor Vasarely, Yayoi Kusama and Anni Albers.. The sketches of Karl and Manolo.. Combined with an academic love of fashion past and present, and a restless and unapologetic design sense she has built a narrative completely her own. Elsbeth sews together imagery made to measure, to the highest standards, unmatched skill and attention to every detail. A Couture approach to making Art.
