At Studio Gallery we have always believed that a contemporary art gallery should be far more than a place where artworks are simply exhibited and sold. We strive for a constantly evolving cultural space, somewhere that applauds curiosity, encourages discovery, provides discourse and genuine connection with art and collectors of all stages.
Founded ten years ago, Studio Gallery has been built upon strong egalitarian and ethical principles. We view and position our role to not sit above artists, but rather to work alongside them, providing development of their careers while passionately introducing their work to collectors who share an interest in creativity and originality. We represent a dynamic collective of artists ranging from emerging talent through to advanced career practitioners, creating a diverse and evolving artistic dialogue.
During the Covid period our galleries saw a significant shift where we realised our collectors were no longer able to travel and therefore avail themselves of galleries across the globe. We immediately changed our focus to a more responsive aim to bring more international talent to our shores, something we proudly maintain to this day. The rich and rewarding exchange of talent, friendships between our artistic base and collaborations have been such a wonderful result of that initiative. We seek above all else to continue to grow and innovate within our industry, provide stunning spaces to exhibit incredible talent and maintain our mantra - Evolution and adaptation will always lead us to ‘tomorrow’.
At the heart of the gallery is a simple but powerful idea: art should be accessible, engaging and emotionally meaningful. We believe that when people encounter the right artwork, something profound occurs. It may be subtle or immediate, but there is a moment where a work resonates and begins a conversation between the viewer and the artist. This experience we often describe as the theatre of the soul is what drives everything we do.
Studio Gallery defines an art space as one that is inclusive, aspirational and curious about the unfamiliar. We embrace change and remain committed to an ever progressive approach to contemporary art. The gallery exists not only to present work, but to cultivate an environment where new voices, ideas and artistic directions can emerge and grow.
Our galleries across Australia provide both physical and digital platforms for artists to share their work with a wider audience. Through exhibitions, installations, artist talks and curated events, we aim to create spaces where collectors, artists and the public can engage with contemporary art in more meaningful ways.
Ultimately, Studio Gallery is about celebrating the place where art begins, the studio. It is from this space of experimentation, vulnerability and discovery that powerful works emerge. Our name pays homage to that origin point and to the artists who dedicate their lives to the creative process.
As contemporary art continues to evolve, our mission remains constant, to work tirelessly for our artists, connect collectors with compelling work and create environments where art can inspire, challenge and move us.
