About Rosie Gilligan
Rosie Gilligan (British, b. 1988) is a self-taught Contemporary artist, based in Melbourne. She began developing her portfolio of work in London whilst balancing a successful career in creative advertising; finding inspiration in the chaos of modern-day existence. Her still life paintings are characterised by simplified form, shallow depth of field and a playful manipulation of scale.
Now a full-time artist, Rosie paints primarily with acrylic on canvas, with a smooth, layered application that strips back visual complexities into level tones and lines. Her flattened and brightly coloured compositions display the influence of artists such as David Hockney, Henri Matisse and Guy Yanai.
Her work has featured in group exhibitions and art fairs in both Miami and London, and has sold internationally via online curations and platforms.
