Liliana Pasalic
Liliana Pasalic is an industrial designer and artist, currently living and working in Adelaide, Australia.. With a background and formal education in design (MA industrial design, Design Studies, Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb, Croatia, Europe) and a background of working in the areas of industrial design, interior design, and stage design, her education in visual art/painting was at the same time formal and self-directed. Her current practice revolves mainly around painting and sculpture often referencing design memories and crossing borders between these vaguely connected disciplines.
Through a personal story of living in Croatia/Zagreb, UK/London, and currently in Australia/Adelaide, her painting considers art history, identity, the unconscious,
colonialism, environmentalism, and the art of finding joy in contemporary western society setting.

Somewhere in between abstraction and figuration, her painting references female roles, domesticity, stereotypical images of suburban Australia and urban Croatia, alongside images of South London and London art scene. Her special interest in art, both as creator and observer is "cheap" popular images injected with the author's personal perspective.

She has exhibited her work in group and solo exhibitions in New York, Jerusalem, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Paris, Bruxelles, Vienna, Milan, Helsinki, Melbourne, Adelaide.
Her work was published in the book "Croatian design now" by professor and design critic Fedja Vukic.
She was chosen to represent Croatia in EDIDA "Young designer of the year" exhibition in Milan design week, curated and designed by architect Giulio Capellini of Capellini ltd.
Her work was included in "Croatian designer's impact" exhibition in Milan design week, Re-actor exhibition in the Museum of modern art Zagreb, biennial exhibitions of Croatian design in "Arts and crafts museum Zagreb", "Dan D" exhibitions, travelling exhibition of Croatian design "In a nutshell" that travels European capitals for 9 years.
Her work was published in Designboom website and Vogue Italie website style.it, as well as Elle Decor magazine, Grazia, In Design magazine.
