About Cristina Ghetti

The work of the Argentinian artist based in Valencia Cristina Ghetti (Buenos Aires, 1969), in the filed of geometric abstraction, has led her to occupy an important place within the current references of this trend in Latin America. Her work covers the fields of painting, video and performance, and is exhibited regularly in Art Fairs, international group exhibitions, and in Art Galleries that represent her in the USA, Latin America, Australia and Europe. Cristina works with acrylic paintings, both on canvas, paper or on Wood shaped pieces. The colourful surfaces are clean and with a very refined technique. All her pieces are totally handmade. "I work with geometric abstraction, the goal of my work is both the interest in the re-contextualization of the foundational ideas of Abstraction, incorporating contaminations and re-appropriations, mostly of works of the 60’s. I’m interested in points from concrete art, constructivism, kinetic and op art, permitting free transits and reconnections between forms and ideas belonging to different periods, traditions and categories in my own work. Most of my work is a study in progress about perception, or better the boundaries between perception and reality, and art practice is an interesting field to study this condition."
