Leah grew up on the Northern Beaches in Sydney and relocated to Northern NSW in 2008. Growing up she always pursued the arts, studying fashion design at East Sydney College and working as a designer in the fashion industry. Moving away from fashion and seeking a connection to the fine arts, in 1998 Leah completed a diploma of fine arts in Sydney as well a certificate in ceramics at Brookvale TAFE. In 2014 she successfully completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Southern Cross University. On completing her Bachelor of Visual Art with high destinations she was included in the Project-Project art initiative which show cases the best university student’s art work from around the world in an online magazine.
Since completing university Leah has had three solo exhibitions and has been selected as a finalist in many prominent contemporary art shows around Australia, she has also received a highly commended at the prestigious Natural Science Art Award in 2014 and also in the 2017 Gosford Art Price. Leah has been selected in many group shows including an emerging artist exhibition at Watters Gallery, East Sydney 2016.
Leah continues to have a deep affinity for the land. Her paintings explore the unique way of capturing the diversity of the natural terrain. Her images are a direct emotional response to the bush, beaches and mangroves that surround her home on the water’s edge in Tweed.
